Your donation will help assess, repair, and rebuild damaged structures and water lines after the earthquake, and restore water flow to the communities affected.
On October 9, 2026, a magnitude 7.7 earthquake struck Panama, followed by more than 100 aftershocks. Since 2002, WEFTA and its sister organization Waterlines have helped more than 160 indigenous communities in this region build and maintain small gravity-fed water systems. Many of those systems are now damaged. Until repairs are made, families are forced to haul water from unprotected streams, raising the risk of waterborne illness, especially for children.
Because each system is small – costing between $3,000 and $7,000 - an individual, congregation, club, or school can sponsor all or part of a community's repairs. Please reach out to us at TheWEFTAteam@wefta.net if you would like to discuss sponsoring an entire community in need of these repairs.
Thank you for making a positive impact with us!
