Access to safe water, sanitation, and hygiene remains a challenge for many Ugandans.

Many rural communities, including schools and healthcare facilities, are forced to rely on untreated water from lakes, rivers, or swamps, which carries a high risk of waterborne disease.

WEFTA’s ongoing Circuit Rider program in Uganda, through our partnership with Union of Community Development Volunteers (UCDV), a Ugandan NGO, helps identify the need for WASH repairs and renovations in healthcare facilities (HCF) and schools. Our Circuit Riders and Partners work closely with project stakeholders on completing the necessary repairs and renovations in addition to training HCF and school staff on key operation and maintenance tasks to keep the WASH assets functioning well.

Unsafe water and improperly managed sanitation contribute to the risk of disease and death. With new WASH installations and improvements to existing infrastructure, rural Ugandans will have a better chance to lead healthier lives, with more time to pursue education and profitable employment.
